After graduating from design school, I found it difficult to make space for analog design outside of my 9-5 corporate job. I made it a goal to use cards, celebrating almost any occasion, as an excuse to make something with my hands.
I have found handmade cards to be a great way to maintain long distance relationships with the people I care about. I’ve made them for birthdays, anniversaries, christmas, valentine’s day, pride month, new jobs, and many more occasions.
Once in a while, friends will pull out a card I made for them years ago and it always marks a particular moment in our history. I love going to houses and seeing them displayed on the fridge or even if they’re filed away for safe keeping. I hope it’s a practice I can continue for years to come.
